Dear Gene Carter Team,

Greetings from The Grand Strand!

We’re right in the middle of the holidays so I’ll give everybody a break from my usual charts and number crunching and keep it brief. 

Although real estate has ended up doing much better than expected, I don’t think anyone would argue with the fact that 2020 has been a challenging year. However, I want to pass on a few observations that lead me to believe that 2021 could be a very good year.

For one thing, condo sales have remained strong in December, normally the slowest month of the year. In the past three weeks, 5 of my listings have sold (new contracts) and I also had a buyer side sale. All 6 “sides” were condotels! One of the listings sold in a matter of hours. With lots of ongoing activity, I hope to sell a few more before year’s end. For anyone who wants to sell and thinks nobody buys during the winter, you’re missing out if your property is not on the market. It’s a good omen as we head into 2021.

By the way, RE/MAX Southern Shores just passed $600M in sales for 2020. Another new company record and the 9th year in a row as the highest grossing real estate firm in our market!

Another positive factor is that interest rates just keep getting lower. This is obviously great for anyone selling or buying a property which is eligible for conventional financing. However, it can also be advantageous for people buying or selling condotels. I’ll delve into this further next month.

As for my team’s success in 2021, our website, keeps getting more popular and we’re in the midst of making big improvements. We’ve already re-arranged and streamlined it to put the “Popular Grand Strand Condo Developments” front and center. This contains floor plans, current listings, overviews and more for over 90 developments (click on the tabs once you choose a development). More improvements to come. Please check it out.

Finally and most importantly, the end of the Covid pandemic is in sight. With two highly effective vaccines approved already and more in the works, sometime during this coming year life should return to normal - vacations without quarantines, restaurants without masks, family gatherings, in-person church, sporting events and concerts, and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, in the meantime, Covid still rages on so please be careful. Just a little longer.
